Unidade Local de Saúde do Alto Ave (ULSAAve)

Institution Description
The Unidade Local de Saúde do Alto Ave (ULSAAve), placed in Guimarães, provides health care in an area of influence that reaches around 400 thousand persons.
Its mission is to provide the best health care with competence, excellence and accuracy, as well as encourage pre- and post-graduate training and clinical research, respecting the principles of humanization. Our vision is to be an example in national and international healthcare sector, with a perspective of sustainable growth, commitment, a sense of change and differentiation. We have around 1900 professionals who work every day in the benefit of the population to whom they provide their health care.
Since 2018, the Centro Académico e de Formação (CAF - Academic and Training Center) aims to promote training, education and clinical research activities.
The CAF's Clinical Research Unit promotes initiatives that make possible the Research by the Researcher's Initiative, as well as the capture and development of Clinical Trials by different sponsors.
The Training Center, a Unit Accredited by the Ministry of Health since 1999, offers different training actions in order to empower its professionals with national and international recognition technical skills and capabilities.
The association between the ULSAAve and different universities and educational structures allows the involvement in the progress of new health professionals in different areas. Cultivating this function allows increasing not only health professionals as trainers, but also the importance of the ULSAAve in the Portuguese NHS and in the network with educational institutions.
