CHUPorto wins AICIB 2021 Awards

Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Porto was distinguished by Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB) with the AICIB Award 2021 for the project entitled "LEARN: COMMUNICATE CLINICAL TRIAL IN A PEDIATRIC ENVIRONMENT".
The aim of the project is to develop interactive information for participants in pediatric clinical trials. CHUPorto seeks to develop new ways of communicating with children and their families, enabling a better understanding of clinical trials through a language with dynamic and specifically adapted multimedia content.
The project will be developed by the Department of Clinical Research of the Education, Training, and Research Department (DEFI) in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics of Centro Materno-Infantil do Norte (CMIN) of CHUPorto.
The jury was chaired by Prof. Catarina Resende de Oliveira, president of AICIB, and was composed of Prof. Helena Canhão, member of AICIB advisory board, Dr. Helena Beaumont, from AICIB, and Prof. Loreto Carmona, head of Instituto de Salud Musculoesquelética of Madrid.
The ‘AICIB 2021 Awards – Empowerment Projects for Clinical Research Centers’ ceremony took place on November 9 at Infarmed auditorium.
These awards aim to support empowerment projects presented and developed by clinical research centers of hospital units of the Portuguese health system, with the goal of promoting their organization and professionalization and improving their performance, increasing sponsors' confidence and international recognition of Portuguese clinical research centers.
Award Ceremony: Prof. Luísa Lobato (Director of DEFI-CHUPorto), Dr. Teresa Machado Luciano (Vice-President of AICIB) and Prof. Catarina Resende Oliveira (President of AICIB).
Project mentors: Dr. Teresa Almeida (Clinical Manager of the Department of Clinical Research of DEFI-CHUPorto) and Dr. Sara Adrião (Trainee Coordinator of the Clinical Trials Unit of DEFI-CHUPorto).
