Hospital da Senhora da Oliveira - Guimarães awarded by AICIB

The Academic and Training Center of Hospital Senhora da Oliveira - Guimarães was awarded by the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB) for Clinical Research Centers Capacitation Projects, on the 9th of November, in the auditorium of INFARMED (National Authority for Medicines and Health Products).

The AICIB 2021 Awards aim to promote the organization, professionalization and improvement of Clinical Research Centers performance, contributing to improve and increase research in Portugal.

The installation of a Day Hospital dedicated to clinical research is intended to increase the efficiency and standardize procedures for the different research protocols. This project also intends to provide an environment with adequate safety and comfort conditions for the users involved in these protocols. With this structure it will be possible to carry out clinical trials at earlier stages, making this center more competitive and attractive at national and international level.

In recent years, the activity in clinical research field has shown a progressive growth, currently conducting approximately 135 clinical studies in different areas, allowing access to innovative therapeutic options, as well as contributing to the acquisition of skills and knowledge by healthcare professionals of the HSOG. The commitment of the Administrative Council and the promotion of research in the institution, stimulates the advancement of knowledge and academic progression, continuously improving the provision of healthcare, with better practices and based on the latest clinical evidence.
